In Fife, over 700 children are currently looked after—many facing unique challenges in education. The Learning with Care team is working to change that.  

Guided by The Promise—that every child in Scotland should grow up loved, safe, and respected—we’re building a future where care-experienced learners feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.  

Our action plan focuses on:  

• Understanding our pupils through meaningful data and strong partnerships.  

• Strengthening collaboration across services with high expectations and compassionate accountability.  

• Supporting schools with outreach, training, and tailored resources.  
• Expanding opportunities for achievement beyond the classroom.  

Together, we’re creating smoother transitions, closing the attainment gap, and fostering a sense of belonging through trauma-informed, relationship-based practice.
